I’m John Gaudio, and this is my blog. My favorite films range, typically, from the 1940s to present day. I also have a large interest in mid-twentieth century  films (1950s to the 1970s), with many being from the Hollywood, England, Italy, France, Japan, and more, since I’m fascinated by historical periods leading to, within, and following the 1960s.

Some genres and cinematic styles that typically interest me most are psychological thrillers, noir, romantic comedies and dramas, pop-art, historical dramas, musical films (concert films, music biographies, musicals), and Hollywood action.

Through studying Film Theory, I hope to learn about more methods by which to view films through specific frameworks and ideas.

Here’s a rough Top Ten list for a brief look as to what some of my favorite movies are, in no particular order:

  1. The Godfather
  2. Vertigo
  3. Before Sunrise (or the entire Before Trilogy)
  4. A Hard Day’s Night
  5. La Dolce Vita
  6. The Empire Strikes Back
  7. Batman (1989)
  8. Tokyo Drifter
  9. The Young Girls of Rochefort
  10. Rear Window
